Did you know that Tiger Belly’s Bobby Lee used to wrestle?
That’s right, Bobby Lee was on his high school wrestling team for a number of years during his younger years. Looking at him these days, you wouldn’t have Bobby Lee down as a wrestler – but then again he is quite multi talented and there’s more than meets the eye. One reason for this assumption may be that he is a stand-up comedian, which is about as far away from wrestling that you can imagine.
A quick Google search shows that Bobby Lee stands at roughly 5’3″ in height. Obviously, this isn’t an ideal height for most striking martial arts however for wrestling, it’s really not much of an issue. As seen with Olympic Champion Henry Cejudo – his small size at 5’4″ often worked to his advantage due to giving him a low center of gravity.
Although Bobby Lee hasn’t wrestled for years, there is evidence of him donning a singlet in his youth. As seen in the clip below, Bobby Lee talks in-depth about his high school wrestling background. Admittedly, he’s not particularly athletic these days but there’s no reason that he’d lie about his past.
