Olympic wrestler Sushil Kumar arrested on suspicion of murder

One of India’s greatest ever wrestlers, Sushil Kumar was recently arrested on suspicion of murder. This happened after a man named Sagar Dhankar was found dead after a mass brawl at a wrestling stadium. Police also found a shotgun in the back of a car that was parked outside of the stadium.

Kumar, also known as pehelwan has won two Olympic medals for India, scoring a bronze and silver at Beijing and London respectively. A freestyle wrestler, Kumar had lived a lavish life due to the earnings from his Olympic success and was based in Delhi. Since being jailed, he has apparently requested protein shakes to keep his strength and muscles in shape whilst he is awaiting trial. His lawyer has since commented, saying Kumar denies the charges. Kumar is also a strict vegetarian, which is not too surprising, seeing as he is also a devoted Hindu where a vegetarian diet is relatively common.
