Serbian MMA fighter Denis Stojnic arrested in organized crime sting

Last weekend, Serbian MMA fighter Denis Stojnic was set to fight for Bellator in Italy. At the time, the fight was canceled because of apparent ‘covid protocols’. It has since been understood that Stojnic was arrested by the Serbian police, with links to organized crime. If Stojnic was found guilty – then his MMA career would be deemed over due to several years in jail as a result. He is currently 42 years old.

So, why did Stojnic get arrested? At this moment in time, the Serbian police are currently investigating a crime racket linked to drug dealing, prostitution, and murder. Not only this – but various, high-profile Serbian law officials have also been detained under investigation for accepting bribes.

As for Stojnic, his friend Elvis Keljmendi was arrested earlier this year, whom Stojnic was the best man at his wedding. It goes without saying that this is a serious investigation – which could have very serious implications for Stojnic if found guilty. During his MMA career, Stojnic had an impressive 15-3 record and fought in the UFC. Here, he even fought the likes of Cain Velasquez amongst others. In the run up to his Bellator debut, he was on a 10 fight win streak.
