The Best Judo Gi Brands & Top Gi Reviews For 2022

When it comes to training Judo, it’s best to get a good fitting, quality gi that you can rely on. The last thing you want is a cheap option that seems good value but falls apart quickly. By the same token, you don’t want to be spending hundreds on an expensive gi that doesn’t really justify its price either. In short, we’ve put these thoughts into consideration so factors such as price, quality, competition legality and general design have all been accounted for.

Basically, you will probably be wearing your gi for several years. With this in mind, the purchase is quite an important decision. From factors such as cost, comfort, and design – we have looked at the best Judo gi’s for you and why they work so well. Without any more introduction, here are the best 10 gi’s for Judo that we could find.

Fuji Judo Gi (With free white belt)

This is a single weave gi that is available in three colors. These colors include blue, black and white. It also comes with a free white belt, which is cool if you’ve just started Judo. For those that don’t know, Fuji have made gi’s for years – both in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. With this in mind, the quality of Fuji can be assured. At the price of under $40, this can be considered a bargain.

ProForce Gladiator Gi

Sadly, this gi is only available in blue. With this negative out the way, there are only good things to say about the Gladiator gi. ProForce have put effort into this gi, and it’s made from 100% cotton. This gi can be purchased for under $30, so if you’re on a budget then this is ideal. Although ProForce isn’t quite as well known as Fuji, it’s still well made and should last for some time.

Ronin Brand Single Weave Gi

Back to a more known brand, Ronin have been making Judo gi’s for years and are known for their quality. This gi is available in white and has an old-school feel to it. It also has a subtle diamond-pattern on the jacket. With this said, it just feels like a really nice, Judo gi. Although this gi costs a bit more than some of the others, it simply looks beautiful and is built to last. This may be due to being unbleached, which makes it look off-white and quite unusual as a result.

Starpro Judo Single Weave Gi

This guy is a no-nonsense, budget gi which costs around $25. This means it is the cheapest gi on the list. However, this does come at a cost; the Starpro brand isn’t as known as the others. Still, don’t let that put you off as it more than does the job. Visually, the Starpro looks nice enough and its logo is quite subtle. As a starter gi, you probably won’t find a brand new gi that is cheaper than this.

Elite Sports Double Weave Gi

The Elite Sports gi is the first gi on this list that is double weaved. This means that over the years, this gi will last longer than the others, as it’s re-inforced. It’s also available in three colors, which is quite unusual, as many brands only offer their gi’s in white. Interestingly, this gi is also approved by the IJF which means you don’t have to worry about competing or getting stopped from competition. As competition is stressful enough, the last thing you want to do is have a gi that is deemed too small or the wrong colors which stops you from competing.

Yamato Sakura Gi

Another unbleached Judo gi, this once again offers an old-school look. It also comes with a free white belt which is a bonus, and like the Ronin gi has a similar diamond-pattern. Be careful though, this gi requires cold washing as otherwise the heat can damage it. Nonetheless, its look is very nice, with no real logos or branding in sight, other than on the inside, under the lapel.

Mizuno Shiai Competition Gi

Firstly, this gi is not cheap by Judo standards. At over $150 dollars, its price dwarfs most in comparison. However, Mizuno is also known as one of the better makers of Judo gi’s. This is pre-shrunk and is available in blue or white. As the title says, this gi is based on competing, so if you take Judo seriously, then this can be seen as a solid investment.

Fuji USA Gi

This gi is based on the USA Judo team, and can be seen modelled by Judo Olympian Travis Stevens. Obviously, if you aren’t American – then this gi probably isn’t for you. However, if you’re a proud American, then it may be ideal for you. It also has the famous stars and stripes on the shoulders and is ideal for any patriot.

ProForce Gladiator Natural White Gi

This gi is not only cheap at under $35, but also looks vintage and stylish due to its natural, unbleached look. If you’re after an unbleached gi then this is the cheapest that you can possibly find. As mentioned earlier, ProForce is a solid, budget brand so fear not, this gi won’t break easily. With this in mind, it really does offer the best of both worlds.

Ronin Professional Gi

This Ronin gi is bleached white and 100% cotton. Like many Judo gi’s, the pants come with an elastic waist. Apparently, this gi was designed to be created with competition in mind and helps with speed, due to its materials. A handy gi, this can also be washed by hand and by machine. With this said, it’s a nice gi, but costs slightly more than most, coming in at around $60.
