Andrew Tate explains why he didn’t join the UFC

These days, Andrew Tate is everywhere and is known as a high earning businessman. However, before his life as an internet guru – he was actually a skilled kickboxer who won a couple of titles under various promotions.

In a recent podcast, he explained why he never joined the UFC. According to Tate, “I kept breaking my hand in three of my MMA fights. They use small gloves, I needed bigger gloves”

It’s no secret that MMA gloves are naturally smaller than those used in kickboxing. Typically, kickboxing gloves resemble those used in boxing which are physically larger and quite bulky. This differs in size and shape compared to the mits used in MMA which are far smaller with less protection for your hands.

In MMA, breaking your hand can happen from throwing punches. For instance, at UFC 220, Gian Villante broke his hand after throwing just one punch. As seen below, a younger Andrew Tate shows off his broken fist with extreme swelling.

Having said this, Tate’s MMA career wasn’t as good as his kickboxing one. He went 3-2 in MMA which isn’t ideal – especially if you wanted to get into the UFC. Remember, being a skilled kickboxer and a skilled MMA fighter are two very different skill sets.
