Did you know that Simon Le Bon is a Judo black belt?

Back in the 1980s, the British band Duran Duran ruled the world. Such was their global relevance that MMA fighter Mirko Cro Cop even used their theme song Wild Boys as his entrance music. In short, it’s fair to say that they had quite an impact.

Whilst a lot of people are aware of Cro Cop and his Duran Duran appreciation, fewer people are typically aware of Simon Le Bon and his Judo history. It turns out that Simon and his wife Yasmin are both Judo black belts. He isn’t just a pretty face then!

For instance, this tweet in 2010 claimed that Le Bon was training in London at the Budokwai dojo. This is also the oldest martial arts gym in Europe. Although his black belt is fairly common knowledge in the Judo world, sadly there’s not much in the way of footage or documents that show whether Le Bon still trains. Nonetheless, it’s pretty cool to know that the lead singer of Duran Duran is a master of throws and takedowns.
