Does Gal Gadot actually know Krav Maga?

One of the frustrating things about the internet is how quickly rumors can spread. Although the spread of information is good in many ways – in some ways it’s also troublesome. This is why some people may be skeptical of claims that Gal Gadot knows Krav Maga.

The assumption here is that Gadot learned Krav Maga whilst serving in the Israeli army. It’s no secret that service is mandatory and is something that most Israelis will do during their early 20s. This is when Gadot served and was apparently a ‘combat fitness’ instructor.

For those wanting to know more, this term actually involves teaching soldiers calisthenics and gymnastics training. Obviously, this is a good training regime for a soldier to get into. However, it’s not the same as formerly training Krav Maga.

Having said this, we now know from a direct source that Gal Gadot does genuinely train Krav Maga. Why? Firstly, because she said so. However, there’s also photographic evidence of her training, which is pretty concrete evidence. As seen in the photo for this article, we can see her throwing a high kick with a Krav Maga instructor. For those out of the loop, Krav Maga has a lot of elements taken from kickboxing, which also blends in with street fighting tactics.

She also brought it up when being interviewed by James Corden. In an interview based on Donald Trump, Gadot happened to include this snippet, claiming “So, I’m Israeli – we go into the military, right? We know Krav Maga and everything.”

This, combined with photographic footage shows how she has trained Krav Maga. In fairness, any information after this is quite vague and there’s not much information around. It looks like she didn’t teach Krav Maga whilst in the Israeli military but instead taught a strength and conditioning program, whilst also training it on the side. Ironically, Gadot would go on to play the role of Wonder Woman during her acting career – which was full of combat scenes. In conclusion, Gal Gadot may not be the best martial artist on the planet but certainly know a few moves when it comes to fighting.
