IJF Releases Updated Instructor Course Prices For 2024

The International Judo Federation has made new announcements regarding the IJF Academy requirements for coaches:

From September 1, 2024, coaching at events like the Grand Prix, Grand Slam, Masters, World Championships Seniors Individual and Mixed Teams, and the Olympic Games will require one of the following certifications: Level 1 Instructor, Undergraduate Certificate Judo Instructor (UCJI), or Master Coach.

Starting January 1, 2026, these same certification requirements (Level 1 Instructor, UCJI, or Master Coach) will be necessary for coaching in World Championships Cadets Individual and Mixed Teams, as well as World Championships Juniors Individual and Mixed Teams.

Semester 1 of the IJF Academy begins on the following dates:

Undergraduate Certificate as Judo Instructor: March 4 – July 7, 2024 

This course is designed mainly to fulfil the fundamental needs of a judo instructor. It introduces black belt judokas to key modules that have been chosen for their importance in providing the essential knowledge every judo instructor should possess.

Course Fees USD $900 – New students to Undergraduate Certificate Judo Instructor

The fee excludes the expenses related to participating in the practical session. It is the responsibility of the students or their federation to bear the costs of flights, as well as board and lodging during the practical session.

Undergraduate Diploma in Judo Management: March 4 – June 23, 2024 (Semester 1) 

The Undergraduate Diploma course in Judo Management is designed to equip administrators and managers with the skills necessary for efficient functioning in judo federations, clubs, and centers.

Course Fees: USD $1,350

  • Semester 1 – 12 online modules and examinations
  • Semester 1 – Submission of Diploma Project of 5,000 words
  • Semester 2 – Submission of 10 assignments during Judo Work Placement

Undergraduate Diploma as Judo Coach: March 4 – July 7, 2024 (Semester 1)

This course aims to delve into advanced performance coaching, targeting coaches who have excelled in the UCJI Course and achieved a significant level of coaching expertise at the club level. This specialized training positions them to fulfil their aspirations in high-performance level coaching.

Course Fees:

USD $1,500 – NEW

  • Students who successfully completed the UCJI Certificate with a score of 80% or higher in both Nage-waza and Katame-waza during the UCJI Practical Session are eligible.
  • Please note, the fee does not cover the costs associated with the practical session. These expenses, including flights, board, and accommodation, must be covered by the students or their federation.
  • The practical sessions for the UDJC courses are scheduled for 2025. Information regarding the location and dates will be available in the News and Resources section on the IJF Academy platform.


USD $1,150 – UPGRADE

  • Eligible students who finished the Level 2 – Coach course and finished the UCJI Certificate course in the past. These students must complete the online modules in both semesters.

All individuals interested in participating in IJF Academy sessions must submit applications by Feb. 6, 2024.
