Joe Rogan on Steven Seagal – “He was a legit Aikido master, he was 100% legit”

In a recent conversation with Steven Rinella, Joe Rogan reminisced about past action movies that featured martial artists. He started by talking about Chuck Norris who is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo before moving on to Steven Seagal. Rogan was particularly impressed with Seagal’s movie debut in ‘Above the Law’ where Rogan described the fight scenes as realistic.

Rogan stated “When he f***ed people at the bar, you believed it, although that stuff…I buy that. This was back when he was lean and thin.” He continued “Look at that upward elbow, 100% legit. 100% real move that you see in Muay Thai all the time, it’s real. This is Steven Seagal at his best…he was a legit Aikido master. He was one of the first, if not the first American’s to teach at a dojo in Japan. He was 100% legit. Back then…I used to love this guy.”
