Explaining the issue with Israel Adesanya’s pec muscles

Over the years, UFC and MMA fans have been divided on the debate surrounding Israel Adesanya’s right pectoral muscle. Yes, you heard that correctly, there are grown men out there on the internet who get into arguments over this sort of stuff.

Well, we do actually have an explanation. According to Adesanya, he suffers from a health issue named gynecomastia. In short, gynecomastia is something that can affect men and boys and is where their pec muscles swell up. This isn’t actually dangerous and it’s not cancer or anything like that. Typically, gynecomastia goes away over time and you can even get liposuction to remove it if you’re self-conscious.

If Adesanya didn’t have a profession that required him to be shirtless most of the time then no one would notice. Unfortunately for him, he’s a professional MMA fighter…and a pretty high-profile one at that.

Does Adesanya use steroids?

Now, here’s where the debate gets interesting. There are various causes of gynecomastia such as genes and weight gain. Obviously, an MMA fighter goes through intense weight gain and loss which may explain Adesanya’s issue. However, there is one more reason which is steroids.

So far, Adesanya has never been popped for using PED’s. Nonetheless, his gynecomastia often sets tongues wagging. Interestingly, sometimes it goes and comes back. This could be due to weight gain or steroids. Ultimately, we’ll probably never know – but one thing’s for sure it certainly makes for gossip.
