Lethwei Champ Dave Leduc calls out Buakaw – the pair may meet in Bare Knuckle Bout
Almost one year ago, Lethwei Champion Dave Leduc called out Muay Thai Champion Buakaw Banchamek. However, due to being banned from fighting in the region for a couple of years, this would have been difficult for logistical reasons. However, one year later – things have changed dramatically and the pair may actually meet under different circumstances.
Yesterday, it was revealed that Buakaw had signed a multi-fight deal with BKFC – the biggest bare knuckle boxing promotion in the world. This doesn’t allow kicks, elbows, or knee strikes but does allow clinch work that is similar to the grappling used in Muay Thai. Over the past few years, BKFC has grown massively and pays its top fighters very good money.
So, what does this have to do with Dave Leduc? Potentially, if Leduc were to sign for BKFC then he could end up fighting Buakaw. This would be financially appealing to both men and would have years of build up behind it. Due to their respected followings, it could seriously happen as well as it would be quite a draw for fans.
What’s more, BKFC is based in the USA – meaning the pair could fight within days if necessary. Speaking on the matter on Instagram, Leduc blasted Buakaw and said, “You should’ve agreed to fight with gloves because now we’re gonna meet with NO gloves and I’m gonna rearrange your face on US soil at the end of the year. I don’t even need my elbows or headbutts to knock you out. This will be the biggest striking fight in history: Lethwei vs Muaythai.”
