Scott Coker On Jiri Prochazka – “He wouldn’t have done very well in Bellator”

Speaking in 2020, Bellator owner Scott Coker had some fairly harsh words when it came to the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jiri Prochazka. When asked about him, he said “I mean, if he had come here, I don’t think he’d have done very well fighting our top guys. You know, the Phil Davis’ of the world or the Ryan Baders of the world or even if Gegard moved up to 205, and the list goes on and on.”

He then continued, “I think he’d have a very hard time here. I think he’s ok but he’s not gonna move the needle here in America. So you know, I wish him well and I was actually just doing a favor for RIZIN because they asked us, ‘can you please talk to him?’ and at first we were like, ‘we don’t need him’you know?”

Since talking in 2020, Prochazka has gone on a phenomenal run – winning all three fights in the UFC and beating Glover Teixeira to become the Light Heavyweight Champion. He did this in the fifth round by way of rear naked choke.

In fact, his entire career has been nothing short of excellent, and currently has a record of 29-3 – with his last loss coming back in 2015. Since then, he has gone on a 13 fight win streak. Obviously, this interview has not aged well at all for Coker. In fairness to Coker, there is a big difference between talent going from Rizin to UFC. Since making these comments, Coker has yet to talk about Prochazka’s dominant run.
