Taekwondo coach sentenced to 6.5 years for sexual assault against teenage students

Taekwondo coach Shin Wook Lim was today sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for sexually assaulting two teenage students. This came after Shin Wook Lim has earlier plead guilty to some of the crimes aimed at him.

Shin Wook Lim was living and teaching in Toronto, Canada at the time and had a well-respected reputation within the Taekwondo community. Not only was he a skilled black belt in the art, but he was also known as an accomplished teacher. This crime once again highlights yet another case where a teacher has misused their status and taken advantage of the power-dynamic between being a coach alongside a student. Due to the publicity of the case however, it is highly unlikely that Shin Wook Lim will teach Taekwondo again after tarnishing his reputation.
