Japanese Judo legend Toshihiko Koga sadly dies of cancer

Widely considered as one of the finest Judoka’s ever, Toshihiko Koga sadly passed away on March 21st due to cancer. What is even worse, is the Judo legend was only 53 years old as well which is no age to die. As a result, the Judo community is in mourning and paying their respects as his death even made the mainstream news.

Koga was known for having one of the greatest Seoi Nage throws ever and won gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games. He also got three golds in various World Championships during the late 80s and 90s which was a time when he dominated the under 71kg weight brackets. At his death, he was a 7th dan in Judo and was a coach at a Japanese University’s Judo team.
