Tom Hardy shows off incredible physical transformation whilst training BJJ

In case you hadn’t heard, Tom Hardy has trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for a number of years and is fairly skilled in the martial art. Over in England, he won two competitions back to back, submitting all of his opponents in the process. This was at blue belt, which is considered a beginner rank in BJJ but still means years of training.

Such is his devotion to BJJ, that he even wrote this shortly after winning a gold medal, Simple training, for me (as a hobby and a private love ) has been fundamentally key to further develop a deeper sense of inner resilience, calm and well being. I can’t stress the importance it has had and the impact on my life and my fellow team mates.”

In this article, we have shown his physical transformation from a younger man, to a man in his early 40s. Remember, society assumes that our bodies get worse as we age – but this doesn’t always have to be the case. As for Tom Hardy, it’s actually the opposite.

As seen on the right, Tom Hardy isn’t in brilliant shape. Whilst his physique isn’t awful, you can see he’s carrying a little extra weight and doesn’t have much of a muscular frame. This is in stark contrast to the image on the left, where Tom has visible abs and a more muscular chest. In short, he’s swapped fat for muscle. This is actually quite important as a competitor and martial artist, as it means he’ll be quicker and more powerful as a result.

Tom Hardy’s physical transformation also shows that we can all better ourselves. Not only has he improved physically, but he also spoke about the mental improvements that martial arts can bring. Before, he was an addict, whereas now he is a champion. At the same time, Hardy is also a professional actor with a family and busy personal life. This shows that it’s never too late to change and that we can all improve ourselves both physically and mentally through martial arts.
